How a data driven industry operates its business
One of today's major challenges facing organizations is about isolated data which restricts access to data and sources. Furthermore, many of the methods in place are all but easy to use, making analytics more difficult to execute than is required.
The data is ordered and centralized. Data-driven organizations collect data from around the organization, to ensure the data is current and important. Don't restrict data collection to internal sources; there are many external sources of data that can and should be used in analytics (depending on the industry). Be mindful of what data is a potential threat, and how much you collect information overload. Today, several organizations are building up data reservoirs with a combination of internal and external data. It is of the utmost importance, however, that data streaming into the data pool is strictly regulated to reap the investment's desired benefits.
Policies on data governance are in effect. Simple data protection systems should be in place to safeguard the integrity of key master data artifacts such as product, customer and supplier. According to Gartner, if not regulated, the quality of master data deteriorates at a rate of 2 per cent per month. Value of master data is essential to high quality analytics.
Open info. Everybody has access to some data inside data-driven models. Quick none of them have access to it all. Guidelines for data protection and privacy limit what data can be accessed. A rule of thumb? Everybody should have access to the data needed to do the job, and data should be easily accessible via different tools like smart phones, desktops, and laptops
Analytics is part of devices. At data-driven marketing companies, analytics tools continue to be among the most creative, with features to quickly identify analytics models. They are also incorporated in existing devices and are thus more likely to be used. Competitive advantages stem from analytical models that allow consumers to anticipate and act on market insights and thus maximize performance. The organizations should always start with a business query when analyzing the data.
